5 FAQs about Nonverbal Autism Homeschool
Oct 27, 2024Nonverbal Autism Homeschool is like our students: unique. Here are the five most common questions families ask about our program.
1. How is this different from online school?
Nonverbal Autism Homeschool is very different from programs taught by a teacher online. Here you watch short videos that show you how to teach your student using the materials provided. Then you download a PDF of materials, print them and teach! We ship a couple of workbooks to you, but most of the materials are in the form of printable PDFs.
2. How long do I have access to the program?
Access is unlimited: move at your student's own pace. The program is purchased in packages of one semester or a full academic year. You don't pay again until your student finishes the materials and is ready to move up.
3. How long does Nonverbal Autism Homeschool take each day?
As long as your student is willing to work! If they're coming from a public school special education class, it's likely they've never been expected to perform academically. Nonspeakers love intellectual stimulation but it takes some getting used to. In the beginning, most of our students can only complete 15-20 minutes of academic work per day. You'll add 5-10 minutes per week until you work up to an hour or two daily.
4. My student can't speak or write. Will this program work for them?
None of our students can speak conversationally (or at all), nor can they write. The first skill our students learn is how to point at the correct multiple choice answer. This foundational expressive communication skill can go a long way toward showing academic mastery. After all, standardized testing and college entrance exams are multiple choice!
5. Is this program accredited?

The curriculum provided meets all national educational standards and includes the same subjects taught in mainstream classrooms. We have students in every state in the U.S. and they've all passed state requirements. However, parents are required to meet their own state's homeschool registration regulations.
